Pizza Hut of Fort Wayne now offers a "Lite Bite Menu" featuring soy-cheese pizzas in 44 of its restaurants throughout Indiana. Veggie® mozzarella contains zero cholesterol, saturated fat, and lactose and is packed with soy protein. Customers are thrilled about the healthy, humane alternative to cheese made from cows’ milk, which is loaded with fat and cholesterol. Following the initial test-market promotions, repeat sales of Veggie® mozzarella were extremely high, with 64 percent of consumers making repeat purchases, whereas the packaged-goods industry norm is about 30 percent. According to Veggie® manufacturer Galaxy Nutritional Foods’ president, Angelo S. Morini, "The early success of this important test is a strong indicator that there is a mega-trend in foodservice toward the nutritional or functional food category. It is only a matter of time before many other fast-food companies offer similar fare."
