The simple carrot. Most of us donít give much thought to it. It is just a simple root vegetable after all. But look at how Mother Nature shaped and molded the simple carrot.
Carrots are typically long and slender and rooted deep in the earth. Their crown reaches for the sky. It blossoms and reseeds itself into the earth.
When properly nourished the carrot becomes long and slender and rooted deep in the earth.
The same can be said of people when properly nourished, both physically as well as spiritually and mentally.
Carrots draw nutrients from the green earth and store them in their bright orange colored roots.
The carrots themselves contain phytochemicals, carotenoids and flavonoids. Phytochemicals are a natural bioactive component found in plant foods. These phytochemicals work within our diet to protect our bodies against disease. Carotenoids help protect us by decreasing the risks associated with heart disease, stroke, blindness and certain cancers. Beta Carotene is a well known carotenoid from carrots. Carrots are a good vegetable source for antioxidants from flavonoids all provided by the nutrients in the earth.
The earth should be prepared properly for your crop of carrots. It should be tilled or otherwise prepared into a loose loam for the best growth of the carrot. The carrotís symbiotic relationship with the dirt is beneficial to the growth of the crop.
People with a sense of purpose have roots that run deep too.
The environment, whether to the carrot in the garden, or the child as part of a family, should be friendly to and the best it can be for proper growth in all aspects of our lives.
Our feet should be firmed planted.
As the orange vegetable grows underground, the green crown, nourished by the sun reaches for the sky.
People too must expand their horizons and ďreach for the skyĒ.
When the carrot has absorbed all the nutrients that Mother Nature has provided it will burst forth in white blossom and reseed itself upon the earth.
People too must burst forth and contribute to the greater good. Itís all part of the larger plan.
Carrots are a part of our lives. Who doesnít enjoy carrots in a simple ranch dip?
The tuber itself can be shaped, rolled and molded into small bite size pieces. It can be sliced and diced and shredded to become more that it was all by itself. Carrots become side dishes, snacks, and part of our daily meals. Carrots are great in a vegetable stir fry or delightfully sweet in a carrot cake.
Carrots evolve. As do people. Itís all just a part of Mother Natureís plan.
